Information for all healthcare professionals, GPs and Medical Students. This section aims to provide information and resources for healthcare professionals working in, or interested in, the field of Head and Neck cancers in regards to the diagnosis, treatment and support of patients.
Scholarship scheme for senior Head and Neck Cancer Trainees who would benefit from financial support to attend international multidisciplinary Head and Neck cancer conferences. The scholarship is being awarded in the name of Oracle’s Founder, the late Peter Rhys-Evans, who was a strong advocate of multidisciplinary and international best practice exchange.

| Funding amount and restrictions | Up to £2,000 total Scholarship. This amount can be applied towards registration costs of course/conference, flight expenses and up to 5 days hotel accommodation. |
- We are offering up to 4 awards within ENT, Maxillofacial Surgery, Clinical Oncology, Radiology, Plastic Surgery.
- This is for Senior Registrars and/or Trainees (with 12-18 months left to completion of training) or newly appointed Consultant (within first 12 months of appointment)
- Desirable to have passed final fellowship examination in Speciality Royal College
- Commitment to seeking a sub-speciality interest Head and Neck Oncology
- We are offering up to 2 awards for qualified Allied Health Professionals and Restorative Dentists
- SALT, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Psychologists and Restorative Dentists who are seeking to get further sub-specialist interest in Head and Neck cancer management.
- We are offering up to 2 awards for Head and Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists
Financial support of this grant can be used only to cover registration of an approved Head and Neck Cancer course/conference, associated flight expenses and up to 5 days hotel accommodation. Maximum contribution of £2,000. This can be up to £1000 for flights, up to £1000 for hotel accommodation and conference registration/courses. Please note this funding will only support economy class flights, you are welcome to upgrade at your own expense.
Requirements ExpandSuccessful applicants are expected to do a reflection of the conference/course after the attendance providing perspective on the value and benefits of their attendance, key points and learnings from both a personal and an NHS perspective. Summary of their reflection may be summarised on the Oracle Cancer Trust website and receipt of this Scholarship indicates agreement to this being published. Applicants may also be requested to join/participate in an Oracle Cancer Trust Research Impact meeting.
Assessment criteria ExpandOracle Cancer Trust will evaluate applications and award Scholarships on the basis of:
- Quality and relevance of motivation letter
- Context for financial support
- Quality and track record of the candidate
- Supporting information
Applications for this scheme are considered twice a year, and the application process has three requirements.
- Motivation letter to attend this conference. This should be 500 – 1000 words.
- Please provide CV and proof of your post in UK and sub-speciality interest in Head and Neck cancer.
- Letter of support from Training Programme Director, Clinical Lead, Department Lead or Head Nurse.
